As a Member of Ifold Gardening Club for many, many years, including as Chairman for a number of years, John would always take his responsibilities seriously, whether it would be moving tables and chairs or assisting Members at the Spring and Rose and Sweet Pea Shows .At the New Year Party and Summer barbeque John loved the games and we would all end up in fits of laughter. Sadly, in latter years, he demoted himself to be in charge of collecting up the rubbish in the black bin bags, and he LOVED IT! As a Committee Member he helped to maintain the popularity and running of the Club, as it is today. If he did not agree with what was suggested he would certainly speak out! One year he allowed a lorry, parked, in his front garden, to be decorated with table, chairs, flowers galore and a rose arbour, for the decorated float up at Plaistow - and it won 1st Prize .During his last year as a Committee Member John would just come along for the company, and in his words "to have a laugh". We miss you John. Sleep tight. xx
